Regulations

Objectives of the Awards

To promote better awareness of research undertaken in Europe and support the creation of a pride in European achievements across national boundaries.

The Awards

The winner of both awards receives a prize of €5,000. The Public Relations award also includes a Galileo statue.

Scope of the two Awards

Popular TV is for work intended for a non–specialist audience. Complete programmes are preferred, but are not essential. Programmes or items that are supported by web sites, books or other media will be considered to have more impact and be more likely to gain the support of the judges.

Public relations is for work to promote research. Public relations is not the same as work intended to facilitate dialogue or to educate. A general rule is that if the audience for the work has sought out the communication, for example an exhibition at a science centre, this is not eligible.

Eligibility

Work must have been produced or used in the period 1 April 2009 till 30 March 2010 that has not already been submitted to the Euroscience Media Awards.

The content or objectives of the work must have a scope that extends beyond a single country. For example a programme or an item explaining work from one country broadcast in another country or work based on a multi–national project or work with inputs from experts or research examples from across national boundaries.

Entry is free

The decision of the judges is final
